A hero can be a member of the military or police, fire or other first responders who put their lives on the line for us every day. It can be a teacher, a coach, a mentor, a community leader. Anyone who has been a hero in your life can be recognized.
Flags for Heroes is…
A highly visible way to recognize a hero with dignity and honor.
A special remembrance for the person who has enough stuff in their life.
A way to honor a hero while helping others in need.
Event Details
A field of flags will be erected on Thursday, May 16, 2019 in front of the Oak Creek Community Center on Howell Avenue. Each sponsored flag will be tagged with the name of a hero, information about the hero and the name of the donor. The public is invited to visit anytime and walk through the flags. A list of heroes and their donors will be available to help locate the hero’s flag.
On Thursday, May 23 at 5:30 pm, a formal Recognition Ceremony will take outside of Oak Creek Community Center. The ceremony will include an honor guard, speeches, and taps.
All flags will fly for two weeks and be taken down on Wednesday, May 29. At that time, the Honor Tag which flew on each flag will be removed and sent to the donor.
Your flag sponsorship is 100% tax deductible.
Whether or not you honor your hero with a flag, we encourage you to post on Facebook: Flags for Heroes MKE South Shore — because every hero deserves to be thanked.
